What we can offer
The BNITM is an institute of the Leibniz Association. With more than 250 employees, it is Germany's largest research, care and teaching facility in the field of tropical
diseases and emerging infections. BNITM and the UKE are members of the German Center for Infection Research. Both institutions are closely networked in the area of
outpatient and inpatient tropical and travel medicine.
Area of responsibility
- Head of a collaborative working group at the Tropical Medicine Section of the 1st Department of Medicine of the UKE, the BNITM and the CERMEL
- Participation in the university teaching of the 1st Department of Medicine of the UKE in the field of tropical medicine with a focus on drug development
- Close cooperation with departments and working groups of the BNITM and the UKE as well as other departments of the University of Hamburg
- Intensification of an internationally visible research program in the field of clinical drug development for poverty-related infections in the tropics at the BNITM and the
1st Department of Medicine of the UKE
- This professorship is located at the Center de Recherches Médicale de Lambaréné in Gabon - a strategic partner of the BNITM in the Central African region
Teaching
2 SWS, acc. the teaching obligation regulation for Hamburg universities (LVVO).
Setting conditions
- Section 15 of the Hamburg University Act of July 3, 2014, as amended
- Proof of the habilitation or equivalent academic achievement
- Evidence of independent scientific work and leadership of a scientific group in the field of clinical drug development
- Completed university studies, doctorate, extensive experience in carrying out clinical studies in Africa as well as scientific achievements that have been performed at a
university or research institution
- Proof of internationally competitive work program in clinical drug development in Africa as well as experience in carrying out international multicentre drug
development studies in Africa
- Experience in conducting clinical studies according to the highest international standards in the context of African health systems
- Evidence of publications in high-ranking journals and acquisition of substantial third-party funds
- Evidence of publications in high-ranking journals and acquisition of substantial third-party funds
