Training workshop in immunology methods

The Centre de Recherches Médicales de Lambaréné (CERMEL) in collaboration with its partners the Institute of Tropical Medicine, University of Tübingen (Germany), the Department of Medical Microbiology, Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and Department of Parasitology, Leiden University Medical Centre (The Netherlands) organises an “Immunology Methods Workshop”.
This workshop seeks to enhance knowledge on clinical immunology in infectious diseases and related laboratory methods. The workshop is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Central African Infectious Disease and Epidemics Research Alliance (CAIDERA) and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF).

Venue and workshop dates:


The workshop will be hosted by CERMEL at its premises in Lambaréné, Gabon. The workshop is scheduled for two weeks between the 11th – 24th of July 2022.

Eligibility:


PhD students from Sub-Saharan Africa with an immunology background. Post-M.Sc. and Post-PhD graduates are also invited to attend this workshop.

Application:


Full applications contain a Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter. Existing immunological knowledge must be indicated in the submitted documents. Full proposals must be submitted to the CAIDERA training coordinator.

Costs:


Workshop participation is for free for all selected candidates. In addition, the course organisers will cover transportation and accommodation of the course participants when applicable. During the workshop coffee breaks, lunch and one workshop dinner will be covered. All travel costs must be outlined and submitted for approval in advance. Approved travel costs will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts.

Timelines:


Deadline for submission of applications is Sunday, 15th May. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews in calendar week 21 and will receive a final decision on application outcome the same week.

Reporting:


Workshop participants commit to submit a 1200-word workshop summary on discussions and activities during the workshop. Summaries will be added to reports to the funder and maybe published on the CERMEL and CAIDERA webpage.
