The first edition of the African Congress for Clinical Trials (ACCT) was held at CERMEL from 8th to 11th October, under the theme: History and Outlook of Clinical Trials in Sub-Saharan Africa.
For the opening ceremony speeches were given, among others, by the Mayor of Lambaréné, the head of the National Drug and Pharmacy Agency (DMP) and by a representative of the Ministry of Higher Education.
During 4 panel sessions and 26 presentations various themes were discussed, such as vaccine and therapeutic trials, diagnostic tests, ethics, traditional medicine, cutting-edge research and basic science. Participants came from Gabon and abroad, namely from Benin, Republic of Congo, Germany, Austria and Japan.
