Post : We are looking to hire a Microbiologist to lead our clinical/research Microbiology
Laboratory. S/he should be technically and scientifically sound with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful
candidate is expected to have a meticulous attention to detail and display a keen interest in treating and preventing diseases that
are harmful to humans and the environment.

Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise and conduct research on various microbiological activities.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to manage a team and workload.
- Remain up to date with scientific and research developments
- Record, analyze and interprete data
- Write research papers, reports, and reviews
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ensure regular review of SOPs and written of new ones (as required).
- Perform tests on clinical samples to isolate and identify causative microbial agents
- When necessary, carry out antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), interpret the results
and advise clinicians on appropriate antimicrobial agents for treating such infections.
- Ensure regular auditing of the Lab and carry out corrective actions (as necessary) for continuous improvement
- Knowledge in managing a clinical/research laboratory project and in collaborating with a wide variety of partners
- Develop and document various microbiology laboratory processes and prepare final reports.
- Maintain purchase orders for all laboratory processes and monitor inventory.
- Attract competitive research grants for his/her research interest as well as participate in national and international collaborations
Requirements:
- PhD degree in Microbiology, medically qualified candidates will be an advantage.
- At least 2 years of working experience as a Microbiologist.
- Highly skilled in microbiology techniques, methodology, equipment and supplies.
- Great ability to prepare research papers and technical reports.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
- Strong leadership qualities, accuracy and attention to details.
- Computer literate and proficiency in the use of Microsoft programmes (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Willingness to keep up-to-date with current information and research.
Languages requirements
- Excellent command of English (both oral, read and written)
- French (optional)
