Training platform in Central Africa for clinical research on infectious diseases (CATCR)


What is the CATCR platform?


The Central African Clinical Research Training Platform (CATCR ) is funded by Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking. The overall objective of this Training Platform is to produce essential data in Central Africa by researchers working in the different countries (Cameroon, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Congo) in collaboration with their partners in Germany, the Netherlands and France. To achieve this, it is crucial to increase the critical mass of doctoral and postdoctoral students in Central Africa. The program focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) including tuberculosis and parasitic infections.

Candidate profile:


  • Be a citizen or resident of a sub-Saharan African country.
  • Holder of a PhD or Doctorate related to infectious diseases or clinical research, or medical graduate with at least five years of relevant research experience.
  • Practical experience in standard and advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques, as well as bioinformatics and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent skills in English (written and spoken).
  • Independent analytical mind, flexibility, sense of responsibility, diligence and team spirit.
  • To present a research project following the program's vision.

NB: Pregnancy is not a limitation on application. Applicants will be selected based on their academic background and verifiable research track record. Through documents such as certificates, letters of support for research experience, evidence of short or long-term training in a laboratory, etc.
