From 12 to 16 January

Regional Workshop on Laboratory Diagnosis of Tuberculosis


From 12 to 16 January 2015 CERMEL TB Laboratory organized a workshop on current methods for the diagnosis of Tuberculosis in collaboration with the Institute for Tropical Medicine, University of Tübingen; and within the framework of CANTAM. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) sponsored the workshop.

The Workshop combined lecture and practical sessions (including participants hands-on) on the following topics:

  1. 1.Overview of Clinical and Laboratory Methods for TB Diagnosis
  2. 2.Safety requirements and best practices in the TB laboratory
  3. 3.TB Microscopy (ZN and Auramine)
  4. 4.TB Culture (Solid & Liquid)
  5. 5.Molecular detection of MTBC or MDR-TB by COBAS (Roche), Genotype® MTBDRplus (Hain), FluoroType MTB (Hain) and GeneXpert® MTB/RIF (Cepheid)
